I was looking at Dubai last night and it showed £280 return for two with a buddy voucher, this AM it is now showing as £560 return in taxes on the same route using a buddy voucher. Is anyone else seeing this overnight increase? Thanks.

Regarding LAS pricing. This mentions 90K off peak per leg. I seem to get it for 380K for 2 PAX which returns it at 95K Avios per leg. Anyone else noticed this?

Am I reading this correctly – a trip from London to Vancouver using a 241 express premium plus companion voucher would cost 90k avios + taxes? Or would it cost 180k avios + taxes?

In reply to Sharon. It can be cheaper in cash to go FRA-TYO as taxes are lower. It may be cheaper in Avios. Partners are priced on distance so some countries may tip into a lower zone. Standard BA.com booking page for Avios will let you book of seats available.

I too want to go to Tokyo and wondered if I got a cheap flight to say Frankfurt or Helsinki then fly JAL to Tokyo in business class would this be less miles than BA from London? I have spent the last hour trying to figure out how to search or book flights that don’t start in London and don’t involve BA. Proving impossible. How do you do it?

Just paid £100 for an economy return Bermuda to London on a 241 voucher. For me it’s a great deal regardless of number of avios (the BA hotels 15 avios for £ spent is helping my avios balance).

When booking using an (old style) Amex 241 voucher, I was charged the equivalent new peak avios but also old lofty taxes. Worst of both worlds, cheers BA!

In reply to gundam. A 241 will almost certainly work out better than a Barclays voucher - this is a general rule.

In reply to Lady London. Don’t publish a chart one year, let them get used to it, go full dynamic once you think people are used to it and then you don’t have to call it a devaluation. Very very slippery slope. For anyone sat on oodles of avios or who generates bucket loads nectar is very appealing.

I have a companion voucher and a Barclays upgrade voucher. Looking to book a one way to Tokyo in business for two pax. Looking at the chart, I am better off using my companion voucher for 110k miles + £550 compared with Barclays voucher for 155k miles + £550.
Have I interpreted this right?

In reply to david. As the article explains, the cash element now bears no relation to underlying costs. The numbers above will not change if fuel halves in price or APD is scrapped. There is no longer any correlation.

Thanks for updating this one guys. It was interesting but quite shocking to see the cost of shorthaul. At first glance one wonders why anybody would bother but I guess there’s still value on ultra peak dates and at the last minute, especially if using a voucher. Even then, I doubt very many are redeeming regional connections on shorthaul. The gaps in BA network are also glaringly obvious in the table, they can only barely claim to be a global airline these days I think.

The chart looks a bit like Waitrose pricing for anyone doing weekly shopping. You either don’t care about prices, or use it because of convenience (got spare points from work paid travel). For most of us, it’s just the reduced section, though hardly ever available.

Are these taxes and fees including ADP leaving UK? So on return one way it would be minus ADP?

As Avios can be used on Qatar, perhaps add the Qatar option and Avios requirement for cities BA used to serve but which Qatar does, such as Bangkok ?

In reply to BA Flyer IHG Stayer. This was the route I was going to go down but as Sydney is unique I thought it best to wait. The pricing differences between peak/off-peak are not as uniform as you might imagine.

In reply to Rob. well that's definitly a good reason for not being able to show it! A good estimate would be what is the extra required over SIN for the other cabins and add that onto the SIN peak rate.
