Do you earn bonus Avios as a British Airways Bronze, Silver or Gold member?

Today I want to look at whether you earn additional Avios points on your flights if you are a British Airways Executive Club status member with a Gold, Silver or Bronze card.

Bronze, Silver and Gold are the three elite tiers of British Airways Executive Club membership, and they all come with a range of benefits including Avios bonus earning rates.  This article outlines the benefits of each BA Executive Club tier.

Do I get bonus Avios as a British Airways Bronze / Silver / Gold member?

Avios are typically awarded depending on the length of your flight, the cabin you fly in and the flexibility of your ticket. For example, the lowest economy fare classes earn only 25% Avios of miles flown, whilst flexible economy tickets earn 100%.  This increases with each cabin, up to a maximum of 300% when flying on a flexible First class ticket.

In addition, if you hold Bronze, Silver or Gold Executive Club status you will earn an additional Avios bonus as follows:

25% extra for Bronze members

50% extra for Silver members

100% extra for Gold and Gold Guest List members

If you are a Gold member and you are flying on a flexible ticket in First Class, you may find yourself earning 400% of miles flown (3 x base miles for First Class with a 100% Gold bonus on top).  On a flight from London to New York City that would equal just under 14,000 Avios.  You can use British Airways’ Avios and tier point calculator to see the Avios and tier points you might earn for any route.

Note that this only applies to British Airways flights.  If you are flying with a British Airways airline partner – either a oneworld alliance member or another partner – you should check this page of ba.com.  Iberia gives an Avios tier bonus, Malaysia does not.  American Airlines gives an Avios tier bonus, Qatar Airways does not.  It pays to check.
