This page outlines the information we collect when you comment on articles at headforpoints.com and explains your rights in relation to this information.

What information do we collect?

Apart from the information requested on the comment form, the only other pieces of data collected are the time and date of your comment, the IP address used to make it and the browser user agent string.

It is necessary to give a name and email address on the comment form but these are not verified and you are free to use a pseudonym if you wish.

If you tick the box provided, your name and email address are stored in cookies to allow the form to be pre-filled when you return to the site.

How do we use your other data?

We only use your data for spam prevention and to display your comment.  If your comment includes a question or request then we may email you with advice at the address you provided if we believe that such information is best shared offline.

Information sharing and international transfer of data

Your comment and associated data is sent to Akismet which is a service used to identify and block comment spam.  Akismet sends the comment back to our server marked as approved or unapproved.  This processing may take place outside the European Union.  After clearance by Akismet, your data will be held on our servers which are located in London.

We do not share your data with any other party, except as may be required by law or regulation.

Retention of data

Comments remain on headforpoints.com in perpetuity unless you request otherwise.  headforpoints.com has the right to delete any comment, at any time, for any reason.

You have the right to access, update, erase, change or correct your comments.  Please email rhys [at] headforpoints.com with any requests.  Your email must be sent from the address linked to your comments.
