Why ‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ is the silliest and coolest Hilton Honors redemption ever

I’m not sure what you were doing on Sunday afternoon, but it probably wasn’t as weird as sitting in a Hilton hotel bed built into the stands at Stamford Bridge, watching Chelsea FC Women.

That’s what I was doing, along with my son, as part of a media trip to highlight potentially the silliest but also coolest Hilton Honors redemption I’ve ever done.

You can do it too, for the upcoming Chelsea FC Women match against Arsenal on 17th March. You can bid to attend here.

Hilton Best Bed At The Bridge Stamford Bridge

As you can see above, it’s a hotel bed. In a hotel room. Built into a football stadium.

Here’s the view from below, taken pre-game hence the empty stands:

Below the bed is the Champions Club private suite which is where you will spend the rest of the game.

What does ‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ get you?

This is what you get, for two people, if you bid for this experience over at the Hilton Experiences website.

You get a night at 100 Queen’s Gate, which is part of Hilton’s Curio Collection. It’s a smart boutique hotel just a few minutes from the South Kensington museums.

I was offered a night here but I literally live 90 seconds away so it was a bit unnecessary! (Rhys is keen to review this hotel as it’s the only Curio in London he hasn’t done, so it will appear on HfP soon.)

A Mercedes will be waiting to drive you and your guest to Stamford Bridge, although the ground is also walkable if you’ve got half an hour.

After settling in to the hospitality suite (there were sofas too, just out of shot):

…. you get to head down to see both teams as they arrive at the ground:

Time for another quick drink in the suite, and then down to pitchside to see the players warming up:

When the game kicks off, you can grab a seat outside the box:

You will be allocated a 15 minute slot to watch the game from the bed, which is directly above the box:

(We were told to keep our shoes on, by the way!)

I recorded a short video which gives you a better idea of how it works which you can see by clicking here (MP4 format). The goalkeeper you see is Mary Earps. Alternatively you can see it in this LinkedIn post.

There was food provided in the box but I believe it will be different for the Hilton Honors redemption day in March, so I’m not showing any images. Hilton is promising a four course meal whilst we got a Hampton Inn-style late morning buffet breakfast due to the 12.30pm kick-off.

After the match a couple of the Chelsea FC Women players came up to the suite for a chat. Here’s my 12-year old towering over Sjoeke Nüsken:

We all received bag of Hilton / Chelsea FC merchandise on the way out too.

You can bid for this experience

‘Best Bed At The Bridge’ returns for the game against Arsenal on Sunday 17th March.

There are five packages up for auction, each for two people, with a minimum bid of just 100,000 Hilton Honors points. This includes one night in a South Kensington hotel, remember. Each package will include 15 minutes in the bed. Children are welcome.

Slightly frustratingly, you can only bid for this package with the hotel room included. If you live in London then you don’t necessarily need this, and it will pump up the cost of the winning bids. I mentioned this to the Hilton team and hopefully in future we can see a couple of packages with the hotel included and a couple without.

There are only four Chelsea FC Women’s league games per season at Stamford Bridge so opportunities to buy this experience will be limited. Arsenal on 17th March will be your last chance for the current season.

You can bid here. Bidding ends on 15th February.

Thank you to the Hilton team for the invitation.

I’m not surprised that they are offering a bed to fans, women’s footy is a snooze fest, also there’s hardly anyone there

    • Rob says:

Apart from 20,000 people on Sunday – and it was 35,000 for the Tottenham game earlier in the season and I assume Arsenal will be 35,000 too. Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good rant though.

Pictures tell a different story. I thought you were an Arsenal fan?

    • Mike says:

The article very clearly indicates that the pictures (other than the one taken from the bed) were taken pre-match, hence the empty stands. The one taken from the bed shows a healthy attendance. Now, please, stop embarrassing yourself.

I follow a few of the Facebook pages and this post has been featured a number of times today. Personally, I think it defeats the whole point of going to a football match.
