Etihad launches attractive £1,199 flight deals to India

Etihad is offering some surprisingly attractive business class deals to India.

These are only available to Delhi and Mumbai, it seems, and price at £1,199 return. For example:

You can travel until mid June for these prices and can fly from London or Manchester. Availability is patchy so you need to be flexible.

Remember that Etihad recently brought the A380 back to the Heathrow to Abu Dhabi route. Our Etihad flight reviews include the Etihad A380 Business Studio, the Etihad Boeing 777 First Class Suite and the Eithad A380 First Class Apartment.

Whilst Etihad isn’t a member of any major alliance, you can credit miles to Etihad Guest and cash them out for, well, cash, via their PointsPay service. You can also credit to partner programmes such as Air Canada Aeroplan and American Airlines AAdvantage.

You can book on the Etihad site here.

How to earn Etihad Guest miles from UK credit cards

How to earn Etihad Guest miles from UK credit cards (January 2024)

Etihad Guest does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Etihad Guest miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Etihad Guest miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Etihad Guest mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.

Re the Moxy, the link to the Ts&Cs seems to suggest: “Book any rate and you will receive the bonus points upon checkout”.

I’m loving all these decent premium sale fares lately. Is it too early to say that perhaps the worst of the Cozzie Livs is now behind us?

    • Ken says:

Depends if you think moving into a recession is a small price to pay for cheaper J fares.

      • Chris W says:

        I do.

      • Rob says:

There’s very little practical difference between a ‘no recession’ 0.1% growth and a recession -0.1% growth I suspect ….

      • dahokolomoki says:

A recession (demand drop)light not be needed.

The industry is expanding supply in 2024. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were at least a few routes with too much supply expansion amongst the players.

So prices could drop even without a recession.

    • TomB says:

Me too, J fares were getting way too expensive for the product being offered. I don’t get the logic though, surely airlines would only reduce fees to entice customers who are cutting back because of cost of living increases. Also if you look at depleted savings and expanding consumer debt levels it looks like COL is going to get much worse so I suspect we might continue to see some great deals and non-sale prices in premium cabins falling.

    • Rich says:

Extra capacity brought back on line, intense competition amongst the ME3, political tension in that part of the world? etc. all playing a part.

  • BBbetter says:

Be aware that the AUH to India legs could be on A320s with recliner seats. Even if you manage to book on a 777 or 787, Etihad could swap planes.

    • Chris W says:

It’s only a three hour flight. Don’t most airlines use narrow body aircraft between the ME and India?

      • Tom says:

No, Emirates and Qatar, who are arguably the main competition, use widebodies on many routes. Pre-COVID, Etihad was even flying the A380 with First / The Residence to Mumbai at one point.

        • Sam says:

Maybe to the main hubs Mumbai/Delhi etc. but Qatar to Amritsar is on a 320. Always has been. Pretty poor experience by Qatar’s standards, plus the awful arrival/departure times in and out of Amritsar. Never again.

          • BBbetter says:

Emirates doesnt have narrow body aircraft. Of course you have the middle seat with no aisle access, but still a better overall experience than recliners on A320s.

          • Erico1875 says:

            Same to Goa

          • 7478 says:

Not true- i’ve taken that flight regularly and its varies- have been on dreamliners, a350s. Currently showing as an a330

  • Mikeact says:

    Thanks for the ‘Search’ update.

  • John says:

I usually default to a Google search of site:headforpoints.com if I’m looking for something in particular.

I am literally about to book Moxy Dublin this morning. But sadly, it seems it is not participating.

As for the good J class fares – I got Business Class UK-USA return (including 2 extra intra-USA legs) with AA back in September 2022 for £1200. There has been slim pickings for T/A J class fares ever since, with TAP being the closest to that £1200. This past few weeks I have noticed great deals with OW airlines. Booked DUB-LAX return for £1280 for December 2024.

What’s going on? Are airlines seeing reduced J class bookings for long. haul? A quick glance at Google Flights reveals most EU carriers have the lowest business class fares to the USA in 2 years or more.

    • Doug M says:

There’s been a fare to smaller airports like Palm Springs and Tucson from Dublin for ages, you have to return to Spain. With the stronger pound there was a day or two it slipped sub £1K.

  • Adam says:

I am a millenial (target market as they say) but I cannot stand Moxy brand. I feel like I am paying premium price for a dorm room. I would trade it for Ibis any time.

    • Ken says:

And I’m nearer 60 and I think they are brilliant (as are the staff).
£90 for Bergen and you can have a swim in the harbour 10 metres from the hotel.

The only thing I would change is the beds which I find very hard.

Wouldn’t touch the breakfast and the free cocktail is pretty weak – but what do you expect from £90 ?

  • Robert says:

Will it cause any issues if I book a 3 night Moxy stay one night at a time in order to get 9k points instead of 3k? I know the staff well and don’t expect them to have a problem, Bonvoy head office on the other hand?

    • Stu_N says:

Doubt that will work. The general Bonvoy T&Cs will say consecutive nights are amalgamated into a single stay even if you check out and back in.

    • Rob says:

The Bonvoy IT system automatically merges back to back stays before calculating bonuses etc.

    • Lady London says:

The way to do that is either alternate Moxy each night or alternate partner books the room each night. Hotel usually fine to keep you in same room if you mention on your first checkin. A bit messy paying and re enabking key cards each day but nothing insurmountable

      • Robert says:

Thanks, I’ll do the second night at IHG / HH, so at least it’s two nights out of three during Feb and a good chunk of extra points. Wonder if it’ll stack with my targeted Bonvoy offer of 15k points for 5 stays, additional 15k for 10, and again for 15 stays.
We just need Qatar to start matching these Etihad prices now!

    • TGLoyalty says:

No harm trying .. Head office won’t even know .. the system will probably make it one stay and give you 3k but no idea how this is administered
